Great Addresses, the hotel management company behind the Carlyle Suites Hotel in Washington DC’s Dupont Circle, has joined the global green movement and has taken vast initiatives to become more eco-friendly, reduce our carbon footprint and conserve for tomorrow.

The Carlyle Suites Hotel understands that “Going Green” goes beyond awareness.  Creating an eco-friendly hotel environment requires considerable responsibility, dedication and passion.   From our corporate offices to our boutique Dupont Circle hotel, we are committed to reducing our dependency on natural resources and are working hard to uncover new ways that we can contribute to improving and sustaining a clean environment for our guests, our staff and for the many visitors to Washington DC and the Dupont Circle neighborhood.

Going Green
In 2006, our eco-friendly hotel initiative moved from awareness to action with the implementation of the Great Green Project.  The Great Green Project was created by JoAnn Dana, Vice President of Great Addresses and local Washington DC resident.  When Ms. Dana first learned that businesses and communities within the District of Columbia throw away over 700,000 tons of trash each year, she knew there was an opportunity to make a difference.  It was then Ms. Dana expanded our in-house recycling program and included an educational element for existing team members and new hires of the Carlyle Suites Hotel.  Multi-lingual classes were developed along with new learning materials to educate our small family on the earth saving techniques and benefits of a proper recycling program.

With a newfound awareness in place, the Carlyle Suites Hotel in Dupont Circle extended the Great Green Project to each of our 170 DC hotel guest room accommodations and suites.  From careful selection of eco-friendly green cleaning agents and detergents, to new in-room water conservation signage, guests of the Carlyle Suites Hotel responded positively to the new changes, in turn generating a new excitement among the hotel staff.

Staying Green
“Staying Green requires commitment and responsibility.  It requires each and every member of your organization to work together to inspire change!” says Richard Spigler, President of Great Addresses.  “Staying green also requires a dedication to seeking out new products and technologies as they come available” adds Mr. Spigler.

Mr. Spigler and Ms. Dana continue to improve upon the Great Green Project.  In 2009, the Carlyle Suites Hotel instituted three new features that they both hope will inspire other hotels in the Washington DC and Dupont Circle area to join the fight against global warming, reduce our dependency of our natural resources and create a healthier environment for all.
